KIRKIN O THE TARTAN

The Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan Service, in conjunction with the Highland Festival, was held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 29. 2011.

This special service started with piping in a parade of tartan banners as the names of represented clans are solemnly read aloud.  More than 40 banners are carried in by families that can trace their lineage back to particular clans.  After these clans are recognized, everyone in attendance is asked to add their clan origins to the list, so that the special blessing can include everyone who is there.

This is an opportunity for everyone, of all faiths and ethnic origins, to experience the true spirit of Scotland at the Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan.

The Rev. R. Thomas Brackbill brought us a message.  We enjoyed some Scottish delicacies at the Fellowship Hour after worship. For information, please call the church at 989.463.2940.
