We walk because they walk!
Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty — that’s what CROP stands for.
Hungry people in developing countries typically walk at much as six miles a day to get food, water, and fuel, and to take their goods to market. We walk to be in solidarity with their struggle for existence.
For 2011 the Crop Walk began with registration at 1:00 in the Smith Room at the Alma Public Library. Opening ceremonies started at 1:30 and the Walk at 2:00. Community Café receives a portion of the funds raised locally. The Walk is approximately 3½ miles (with shortcuts, if necessary).
Next year, consider walking and accepting pledges to raise money. (Contact the office to receive a pledge packet.) If you don’t wish to walk, please consider pledging a donation with someone who is walking. Thank you!
