CREATING CONFIDENT CAREGIVERS

Creating Confident Caregivers

Creating Confident Caregivers is an educational program for family members caring for a loved one who has dementia and/or memory loss. The program is provided free by the Gratiot County Commission on Aging in conjunction with the Greater Michigan Chapter of the Alzheimers Association.

  • Learn about taking care of yourself to better care for your loved one, how to handle everyday activities more easily, locating caregiver resources, managing behaviors, and dementia and its effects on the brain.
  • Creating Confident Caregivers (CCC) utilizes the Savvy Caregiver Program, a university-tested program for family members caring for a loved one with dementia at home.
  • Two hour sessions are held once a week for six weeks and are led by dementia care specialists.
  • This program provides participants with information, skills and attitudes to manage stress and increase effective care giving skills.
  • Free Respite Care: Care for your family member with memory loss can be provided free of charge while you attend the sessions.

For further information or to register for the class, contact Central Michigan Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900 or 989-839-9910, or patricia.meyer@alz.org. (See the flyer on the Church bulletin board.)
